DesRosiers says auto sales flat in November but still down for the year
Business
TORONTO - DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. says Canadian auto sales were flat in November compared with a year earlier while year-to-date sales remain down.

The consultancy says an estimated 143,666 new light vehicles were sold in the month, down two units from last year.

While overall sales were flat, passenger car sales were down 18.6 per cent while light truck sales rose 6.9 per cent.

Steady declines over much of the year have left auto sales down 3.5 per cent for the year to date, despite modest gains in August and steady sales in October.

DesRosiers estimates that Ford sold the most vehicles in November despite a 1.7 per cent decline from last year, while General Motors was second after a 5.2 per cent decline and Toyota took third after a 0.1 per cent gain.

The higher-end market was mixed, with Volvo recording a 46 per cent gain and Lexus up 17 per cent, while BMW was down 12.9 per cent and Porsche down 15.9 per cent.
