‘Just take it and chug it’: Japan’s ‘drinkable’ chips designed to keep your phone free of greasy fingerprints
We’ve come full circle. Eerily reminiscent of “ Lady Doritos ,” the ill-advised concept former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi hinted at this time last year, a Japanese snack company has developed a “drinkable” bag of chips,  The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports. Bearing the tagline “a new snack style humankind has been waiting for,” snack food-manufacturing company Koike-ya’s One Hand brand “features a line of splintered potato chips and other snacks that can be consumed like a bottled drink.”

People have been known to go to great lengths when orange fingers simply won’t do, and a trip to the sink is just too much to undertake. Chopsticks and even silicone finger guards have proved to fit the bill nicely. A step further than these distancing devices, One Hand Chips come pre-smashed, so you can scroll, swipe and snack without marring your touchscreen with greasy fingerprints.

The company’s chip designers were apparently inspired by the experience of eating the chip shards lingering at the bottom of the bag, they told the WSJ. But in order to get around the risks of an ordinary chip bag – namely tipping the bag back and ending up with crumbs all over your face and torso – they designed the bag to prevent any spills. “We would argue over a millimetre in setting the size of the opening,” a designer reportedly said.
