Stargazing: Frances McDormand’s Met with misfortune

The theme for the Met gala in New York this year was Catholic imagery, and Frances McDormand’s style choice reminds us that one Catholic tradition — drinking wine in the morning — remains a ritual for her.  (Charles Sykes/Invision/AP)

Catholicism has given us style titans ranging from Dolce & Gabbana to Coco Chanel to .... I don’t know, Jim Gaffigan: a lot of people. So it was perhaps only natural for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to display religious art, garments borrowed from the Vatican, and 150 designer fashion pieces intended to pay homage to the faith. Celebs were then invited to this year’s gala with that theme in mind — an opportunity for tasteful tribute that none could resist, except for the “tasteful” part. Can’t wait to see what religion they choose next year! Gulp.

Migos think they’re blowing off the gala’s theme. Little do they know: this is exactly how the Three Wise Men looked. (Getty)

Elsewhere, yes, Dave Chappelle got $60 million out of Netflix but tucking in his shirt at their party is still extra. (Getty)

Now an old pro at dealing with the Hollywood streets, Mike Myers dishes a no-look autograph while keeping an eye on a stalkerish type wearing a grimy Cat in the Hat costume. (Backgrid photo)

If you really want to make Kelsey Grammer this mad, do as hundreds have done before: dial him up and say “Hello, this is the blues a-calling.” (Backgrid)

Joey King and Jacob Elordi of Netflix’s new movie The Kissing Booth remind us: the streaming service doesn’t really do romance. Who are the sexiest characters on Netflix exclusives? We sadly conclude they are Fuller House’s Kimmy Gibbler and BoJack Horseman. (Getty)
