Trudeau was asked light-heartedly at an event today in Vancouver whether he jeopardized his security by snowboarding with his bodyguards.
"I have many times and will continue to praise the RCMP for the extraordinary work they do keeping Canadians safe every day, and I was very pleased to be able to see see they are as good as the slopes as they are anywhere else in the world," he said, prompting applause and laughter from the crowd.

Check out JG and JT on @whistlerblackcomb this past weekend! Isn’t it awesome that #Whistler is home to the #1 ski resort in the world & attracts such amazing people like the #PrimeMinister of Canada, @justinpjtrudeau? Perhaps we should make this permanent and create Canada’s version of Camp David right here in Whistler for all of the future Prime Ministers? In the late 90s, Trudeau was a ski and snowboard instructor at Whister-Blackcomb. His friend, Sean Smillie, said the future prime minister was "perfect" for the job.
Trudeau also became an advocate for mountain safety after his youngest brother, Michel, died in an avalanche in 1998.
