Durham police have laid first-degree murder charges against an Oshawa man who was already in custody after DNA linked to two missing women was found in his downtown apartment.

An audible gasp arose from spectators in a crowded Oshawa courtroom Thursday morning when the development was announced.

The DNA of two teens, Kandis Fitzpatrick, left, and Rori Hache was found in the Oshawa home of Adam Strong. Strong was charged with first-degree murder in their deaths on Thursday.  (Durham Regional Police)
