Saturday was a tad hectic, up just about 4:30 a.m. to catch an early flight, cab to shootaround, Marc Gasol can’t talk because the deal’s not done. Find hotel, work on the Sunday mail, walk to the Garden, do the Gasol story, cover the game, walk back to hotel, set alarm for 5 a.m. get early flight back.

And as I’m doing it, I’m thinking what are the worst aspects of whirlwind trips?

Easy to come up with two and I’ve done them so many times, I’d probably say it’s a tie between them as to which one is better or worse.

Goodbye, hello

That’s the trip that’s so short that before you take off for your first flight, you’re allowed to check-in for the return one.

It happened Saturday. We were a touch late getting out of Pearson because it was the plane’s first trip of the day and de-icing was necessary and, sure enough, when we’re sitting there waiting for the guy to douse us, the notification popped up that I could check-in on-line for my flight home.
