Things are looking up for 11-year-old Kade Foster, whose birthday party began with disappointment last week after none of his invited friends showed up.
His father tweeted out a photo of his son and asked his friends to show him some love, tagging Maple Leafs stars Mitch Marner and John Tavares.
After receiving an overwhelming outpouring of support on Twitter — including messages of support from celebrities like Mark Hamill along with Marner and Tavares — Kade was invited to the Leafs game Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Kade and his family spent time in the dressing room Saturday before the Leafs’ morning skate, meeting the players and getting hockey cards signed.
Sporting a Marner jersey, Kade got fist bumps from the players on their way onto the ice.
Air Canada paid for his flight from Corner Brook, Nfld. — his family said it’s the first time Kade and his sister Emily have ever been on a plane.
The airline welcomed the family onto the flight with balloons and a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday.
