Judiciary panel hires veteran lawyers as Trump probes begin

WASHINGTON - House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler says he has hired two veteran lawyers and critics of President Donald Trump as his committee begins to investigate the president and his administration. The new additions could provide expertise for impeachment proceedings, if Democrats decide at some point to pursue them.

The hiring of the two lawyers, Barry Berke and Norman Eisen, comes as lawmakers are pressuring Trump attorney general nominee William Barr to release a full accounting of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe when it’s complete.

Nadler said in a statement that the panel is determined to “ask critical questions, gather all the information, judiciously assess the evidence, and make sure that the facts are not hidden from the American people.”
