The Middle Arm Recreational Trail is a 5.5 kilometre section of trail that runs beside the Fraser River in Richmond, B.C. On the other side of the trail is River Road. The popular artery boasts views of the North Shore Mountains and Sea Island as well as the Vancouver airport. It is also easily accessible from the downtown core – perhaps too accessible.
A video posted to Reddit a few days ago shows a gold Nissan X-Trail cruising along the pathway, with pedestrians and cyclists dodging out of the way. A driver on the proper road laid on their horn, a passenger yelling as they filmed, “that’s not a road!”. The SUV is actually going quite fast, which means we’re not safe from bad drivers even in places they’re not allowed to be in the first place.
