Spied! 2023 GMC Canyon may see even more hardcore AT4 trim

The 2023 Canyon will get entirely revised bodywork and sit on an updated version of its current platform. But there are other more-than-skin-deep changes, too: the current 2.5-litre four-cylinder, 3.6L six and 2.8L diesel will all be tossed in favour of a turbocharged 2.7-litre four borrowed from Sierra and Silverado and backed by a 10-speed auto, say outlets like GM Authority.
In the bigger trucks, that engine makes about 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque; in the ’22 Silverado, that latter figure has been bumped up to 420 lb-ft of twist.
Rumours are GMC is planning an AT4X trim for Canyon, too, but these spy shots don’t seem to be of that pickup, from what we can tell. We’ll know a lot more sooner than later, anyway, since real-world testing like this means the production version can’t be too far off.
