Lucid showed off a “quicker than quick” version of its upcoming Air electric sedan in a new video released late September.
In a Tweet posted by the brand, a drag race between a new Lucid Air Performance and a Porsche Taycan is teased in a short clip.
The video doesn’t show much, but what it does show is a countdown from 9.90 to 9.62. We’re guessing those number are seconds, and that 9.62 is the amount it takes the Air to cover a quarter-mile; the Porsche takes a glacial 10.5 seconds by comparison.
The results of the race will be unveiled on September 24, 2020, when the vehicle will be debuted.

The Lucid Air boasts 1,080 horsepower in the performance version, while other models will receive better range in exchange for slower zero-to-100 times.
Mum has been the word on the exact specifications for the motors, but CEO Peter Rawlinson explained the front and rear suspension modules are interchangeable, which means they could be stacked for a 2,010-horsepower all-wheel-drive monster.
While that’s not necessarily in the cards for the near future, the result of this Tweet is. Tune in soon to see how it all ends up.
