B.C. communities brace for economic disruption as province discourages travel from other provinces

As B.C. discourages non-essential travel from neighbouring provinces, some communities and industries that rely on Alberta tourists for business are bracing for an economic slowdown.

On Thursday, B.C.’s top health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry asked residents of that province to “limit travel as much as possible unless it is essential,” as COVID-19 cases continue to rise. Henry said travel within the province and to other parts of Canada for “recreational and social reasons” should be postponed.
