Calgary tech companies develop COVID contact tracing solutions
As the number of COVID-19 cases of unknown origin rise and concerns about the province’s contact tracing capabilities grow, a number of Calgary-based tech companies are coming up with solutions.

With more than 10,000 active cases now in the province, the virus has outstripped the ability of Alberta’s health officials to trace the source of transmission. For the week of Nov. 6 to 12, for example, 86 per cent of reported cases could not be linked to a specific source. The province has also had to suspend notification of close contacts for all confirmed COVID-19 cases that do not impact high-priority settings like acute care, continuing care facilities and schools.
