Unearthed pipes lie on Vancouver s East 12th Avenue, which is undergoing construction to replace a water main on July 14, 2019. According to the City of Vancouver, the existing water main is predicted to be over 100 years old, having been installed between 1906 and 1909. In Canada, where provinces _ not the federal government _ set water safety rules, the main source of lead in drinking water is antiquated pipes.
