Cheer : Which Navarro Cheerleaders Are Coming Back Next Season Amid Jerry Harris Arrest - Showbiz Cheat Sheet
Though Cheer was a hit when it premiered on Netflix , the future of the show has been uncertain. First, the 2020 cheer competition season was canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and then breakout star Jerry Harris ran into some legal trouble, making his future on the show uncertain. So, who is coming back to Navarro College ?

Earlier this month, news broke that a criminal investigation was underway after 14-year-old twin brothers alleged that Harris had solicited sexual content from them and harassed them. The incidents occurred when the boys were 13 and Harris was 19.

According to court records obtained by USA Today , Harris admitted to soliciting and receiving sexual Snapchat messages from 10 to 15 minors. He also admitted to having sex with a minor at a cheerleading competition and said that he paid a 17-year-old for nude pictures.

Harris is curently in jail, waiting to see if he will be released on bond.

As Harris’ future with Navarro is up in the air, fans have been wondering who will return. Because, the competition season was canceled, a lot of the Navarro College cheerleaders have another year of eligibility left.

“They don’t use their eligibility unless they actually compete, so some did come back that would have probably not, like Gabi Butler,” Navarro coach Monica Aldama told HollywoodLife .“The way cheer works is a little bit different. You get five years of eligibility to compete, and three of those can be at the junior college level. So, Gabby had competed for two years with us and then decided to come back for her last year of eligibility at the junior college level, but since the season got canceled, she is now coming back another year, because she does have that eligibility left.”

Tumbler Lexi Brumback will also be back next season, Aldama told PopSugar . While Morgan Simianer and La’Darius Marshall did already graduate, they do still have one more year of eligibility left so they could decide to come back.

In the Cheer docuseries, the team worked the entire year just to compete one time in Daytona. By the time the competition was canceled this year, the Navarro cheerleaders had already been working hard on their routine.

“We spent our entire year preparing for that one competition, and we had done 25 full outs and probably could’ve competed in that moment if we needed to,” Aldama told HollywoodLife. “Obviously, we still had a lot of details we wanted to clean up but we were hitting the routine. We still had many weeks left of making memories and a lot of special things we had planned, and just bonding and things to do and obviously compete. It just felt so empty.”

After the competition was canceled, Aldama gave herself a week to mourn and then told herself she had to keep moving. Now, she is competing on Dancing with the Stars and is partnered with star dancer Val Chmerkovskiy.
