Jared Bednar was not at T-Mobile Arena for the Colorado Avalanche morning skate Thursday because of an irregularity with the coach s COVID-19 test results, a Colorado spokesperson said.

"We re thinking that he ll be back tonight, but if not we know what to do," forward Joonas Donskoi said. "We ve been talking about things that we have to get better at for a long time, and I think last game was a pretty good game from us, so we re just looking to build and get a win from tonight s game."

Defenseman Devon Toews said other members of the coaching staff led practice.

"We have a pretty good routine on game days with our skates, so there s not much coaching that needs to go on there," Toews said. "We kind of know our routine and what we re doing out there, so it was pretty much business as usual."

Toews said he did not know if Bednar was the only one missing. No one else was available for comment.

"I couldn t tell you," Toews said. "I have no clue. We came to the rink, we got prepared for practice. There s nothing to it, guys, in that standpoint. We come to the rink. We prepare for the game tonight. If we have Jared, we have Jared, and if we don t, we ll prepare for that as well. So, you know, we re ready to go as a group. We re ready and we re excited for the challenge."
