“There’s nothing like playing hockey in Canada, let alone Montreal,” Hoffman said Thursday, a day after signing a three-year, US$13.5-million contract with the Canadiens that has an annual salary-cap hit of $4.5 million. “Being an Original Six team and the fans and the atmosphere and the city, it just has everything that you want as a hockey player to go to a city like that. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of playing in the Bell Centre in front of all the fans. … I think they got a great hockey team, some great young talent that’s coming up and I think they’re going to be good for a long time, so it was a pretty easy decision for me.”
