Google Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: What you get for an extra $300 - Business Insider

Both phones also have the same main and ultrawide cameras, so you re not losing out on camera quality for standard and ultrawide photos. Nor are you getting extra camera features like laser focusing or OIS (optical image stabilization) in the Pixel 6 Pro. Camera modes and software are also identical.

The Pixel 6 Pro has a third 4x zoom lens capable of going up to 20x with digital zoom.

The Pixel 6 Pro also has a higher resolution 1440p screen with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate compared to the Pixel 6 s 1080p screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. In our experience, anything higher than 1080p is negligibly sharper in a smartphone, if noticeable at all. And a 90Hz refresh rate still makes for a noticeably smoother experience than the standard 60Hz we ve grown accustomed to over the years.

Seeing as one model is bigger than the other, they also differ in battery size. However, Google claims that both phones "can last beyond 24 hours," suggesting they have similar battery life.

Apart from being smaller and coming with two cameras instead of three, Google s Pixel 6 differs slightly from the Pixel 6 Pro in terms of design.

The Pixel 6 has a black aluminum frame with a frosted matte texture, whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has a shiny polished stainless steel frame, which gives off a slightly more premium vibe.

The bezels around the screen are also a little thicker on the Pixel 6, and the Pixel 6 Pro has slightly curved screen edges compared to the Pixel 6 s flat screen.

These design differences give a premium edge to the Pixel 6 Pro, but it s purely cosmetic compared to more impactful differences, like screen size and the extra zoom lens. It shouldn t be a meaningful reason to upgrade to the Pixel 6 Pro if you re considering the Pixel 6.

To sum it all up, spending an extra $300 on the Pixel 6 Pro will get you a bigger phone with a slightly more premium design, 4GB of extra memory, and a 4x telephoto zoom lens.

It s tough to say whether the Pixel 6 Pro is worth its $300 premium, as we haven t fully reviewed the new Pixels yet. We can say that $600 is a very nice price tag for something as highly specced as the Pixel 6 — its direct competitors are the $800 iPhone 13 and the $800 Samsung Galaxy S21. Depending on how our testing goes, the Pixel 6 looks likely to be the winner for most people.
